We play popular acoustic song and dance music and include some original compositions in our performances. We entertain at Ceilidhs & barn dances, (where we call our own dances), weddings and pubs. We play at Festivals and are regulars at Two Rivers, Lydney and Coleford.

Our Music appeals to both young and not so young. Audience participation is an important ingredient in our performances either dancing singing or just general friendly banter.

Tony, the bass player and caller, writes some material and has written 2 musicals which received public performances he has also written a song called “Forest Gold" which is still performed by the Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir (12 years and still going strong). His latest works are “Forest Ghost" "You look so neat and lovely" and "I love Cindy Ford" all of which are in Banshee's inimitable "green grass style". Tony has now returned to his roots as a full time musician having spent a number of years in public service. He was a professional musician in the 70's playing Rock Music in a band called "Portrait" who made 5 records and played regularly on BBC‘s Jimmy Young and Terry Wogan radio shows. Tony moved to the Forest of Dean from London 30 years ago. He is the Forest of Dean representative on GlosFolk, www.GlosFolk.org.uk the county's folk music organisation.  He is also a member of the Performing Rights Society.

Jenny is Tony's wife born in the Forest of Dean; she has played in many bands and duos. Jenny has spent several years living in the Middle East where she formed an active Folk Club with appearances on Local Radio Stations. She has her musical foundation in roots music and plays guitar, button accordion, bodhran supplemented with fine vocals. Her home cooking is legendary.

Daisy Smith is a very talented fiddle player born in the Forest of Dean and at 20 years does not qualify for Saga Holidays as does the rest of the band. Daisy is  a classically trained violinist and has recently passed her Grade 7 exams. She is proof that Banshee's music covers all generations and this is also evidenced by the young people that follow us. Daisy is also a talented flute player, her unique fiddle playing can be found on Banshee's Irish music CD which is available at gigs or via this web site and the email link.

Banshee occasionally use guest musicians for various events. All equipment is PAT certificated and they also have Public Liability Insurance.
